The Choctawhatchee boys swim team took home second place at the Gulf Breeze Optimus Meet on Saturday while the Fort Walton Bea

The Choctawhatchee boys swim team took home second place at the Gulf Breeze Optimus Meet on Saturday while the Fort Walton Beach girls led all area challengers with a second-place finish.

The Choctaw boys finished second with 205 points, Fort Walton Beach came in third with 148, Navarre finished fifth with 97 and Niceville came in eighth with 87.

On the girls side, the Vikings placed second with 223, Choctaw finished third with 150, Navarre came in fourth with 138 and Niceville finished seventh with 89.

Choctaw notched first-place finishes in the boys and girls medley relay as well as in the boys 400 free relay. Choctaw’s Alex Strom finished first in the boys 200 and 500 free, while on the girls side for Choctaw Cheryl Corvo (100 fly) and Olivia Strom (500 free) also turned in first-place finishes.

Natalie Lenderman was Fort Walton Beach’s two-time top finisher, coming in first in the girls 50 and 100 free. The Vikings’ Samantha Laughlin also won the 200 free.

Fort Walton Beach took top honors in the girls 400 free relay as well as the boys 200 free relay. Niceville’s Ross Spock led the charge for the Eagles by winning both the 100 backstroke (52.89) and the 100 free (48.12).
